Educational Training and Course Lead

Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with a membership body for maritime professionals to recruit a proactive and highly organised Educational Training and Course Lead to oversee the end‑to‑end delivery of their Academy learning programmes.
About the Role
As Educational Training and Course Lead, you will take ownership of the planning, scheduling and delivery of a wide range of learning products, including online courses, workshops, schemes, endorsements and recognition services. You’ll manage logistics, coordinate instructors, ensure materials are prepared on time and maintain high-quality delivery across all programmes.
You will work closely with the Development Lead to maintain and update online courses on the LMS, conduct routine quality checks and support the implementation of new or updated programmes. With support from an Administrator, you’ll oversee enrolments, assessments, certification and learner communications, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience throughout.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000
Working style: Hybrid with some travel needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and smooth delivery of all courses and learning events.
  • Oversee logistics, instructor coordination, and preparation of course materials.
  • Manage delivery of professional schemes, endorsements, and recognition services.
  • Maintain and update online courses and resources in partnership with the Development Lead.
  • Conduct routine LMS checks and support quality assurance processes.
  • Gather and analyse learner and instructor feedback to inform improvements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for learners and applicants.
  • Manage enrolments, access, assessments, certification, and general learner queries.
  • Maintain delivery processes, checklists, and accurate records.
  • Produce delivery performance and quality reports for senior leadership.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure alignment between course design and delivery.
  • Support social media scheduling and provide insights to improve marketing and engagement.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Experience in course delivery, training operations or learner administration.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple delivery cycles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with an LMS (e.g., Moodle).
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes in an educational environment.
Desirable
  • Experience coordinating both online and face‑to‑face training.
  • Understanding of professional schemes, endorsements or recognition frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the maritime sector or professional development training.
