Project and Finance Officer

Summary of the Role:

The Project and Finance Officer will play a central role in coordinating budgets and operations across a variety of international programmes. The role combines financial oversight with project support and administrative functions. This is an ideal position for a well-organised individual with a passion for mission-driven work.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development and submission of new project proposals, including preparation of budgets and administrative documentation
  • Draft, monitor and report on project budgets, ensuring alignment with procurement policies
  • Maintain accurate project financial records and contribute to internal and external reporting
  • Assist with financial processes such as invoicing, reconciliations, and liaison with banking services
  • Oversee coordination of travel, event logistics, and UK-based training activities
  • Maintain office procedures, manage supplier relationships, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Provide administrative support including minutes for meetings, database management, and recruitment of admin staff
  • Support preparation for Board meetings and audits, ensuring completeness of documentation

Person Specification:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in project coordination or administrative roles, preferably within a not-for-profit or media development setting
  • Strong experience in managing and monitoring budgets
  • Solid understanding of financial tasks such as invoice processing and reconciliation
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage complex administrative systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools like Dropbox, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset
  • Capable of working independently, managing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • A Master’s degree in project management, international relations, journalism, or a related field is preferred
